SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Devin Watson scored a game-high 22 points, including 17 in the second half, helping the San Francisco Dons post a come-from-behind 74-61 victory against Santa Clara men's basketball in Thursday night West Coast Conference action.

Uche Ofoegbu scored 21 points and Tim Derksen added 19 for the Dons (10-9, 4-5), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Jared Brownridge scored a team-high 20 points and KJ Feagin tallied 11 and dished out a career-high tying nine assists for the Broncos (7-14 3-6), who dropped their second straight after winning three of four.

No other Santa Clara player reached double figures and the Broncos went 5-for-12 from the free throw line.

Watson, who also had six assists and five rebounds, keyed a decisive 11-0 run that turned a four-point deficit into a 59-52 lead. The sophomore guard scored the final seven points in the flurry, capped by 4-point play with 6:39 left in the game. He went 4-for-6 from beyond the 3-point line.

Nate Kratch, who had a game-high 12 rebounds for the Broncos, hit a hook shot in the paint on the ensuing possession, but Derksen scored on back-to-back layups and Ofoegbu added a jumper to increase the lead to 65-54 with 3:26 on the clock and the Broncos never got closer than nine the rest of the way.

USF shot 46 percent from the floor in the second half and the Broncos just 33 percent, including 4 of 14 from behind the 3-point line.

The Broncos jumped out to a big lead in the first half behind the hot shooting of Brownridge and the distribution of Feagin.

Brown nailed five of his first six field goals, scoring the team's first 15 points of the game, while Feagin assisted on five of the first seven field goals.

"We got off to a great start," Santa Clara head coach Kerry Keating said. "You think you can ride that a little bit but our team needs to understand how to ride that properly on both ends, defense and offense."

Santa Clara built a 26-11 lead midway through the first half on Feagin's layup, but Ofoegbu and Derksen keyed a 10-0 spurt. Ofoegbu (8 of 14 FGs) started the run with a 3-pointer and Derksen's jumper with 7:18 left in the first half cut the deficit to 28-24.

A layup by Watson gave the Dons their first lead of the game (32-31) with just more than 3 minutes remaining in the first half. But USF missed its last five shots of the half and back-to-back driving layups by Feagin made it 35-32 at the half and snapped a stretch of 10 straight missed field goals for the Broncos.

After turning the ball a total of 10 times in the last two outings, the Broncos had 12 in the game, including seven in the final period when the Dons held a 12-3 edge in points off turnovers.

"We had a stretch there with some turnovers that hurt us."

After three straight games at home, the Broncos hit the road for the next three. They play at Gonzaga Thursday.

"Guys are putting forth a lot of energy and obviously we have to make sure that we're taking care of our bodies because we still got a long grind left to go with half the conference season left," Keating said.

Notes: With nine assists, KJ Feagin (86) moved from a tie for eighth to fifth on the school's freshman list. He snapped a tie with Steve Kenilvort (77/1982-83) and passed Brody Angley (81/2004-05), Kevin Foster (83/2008-09) and Kyle Bailey (84/2000-01) … Nate Kratch (12) had the seventh double-digit rebounding game of the season and tallied a career-high three steals … Jared Brownridge (20) reached 20 points for the 10th time this season, including eighth in the last 12 games.

The USF Series: The series began in 1908 with the Broncos now holding a 112-105 lead. Santa Clara had won two of the last three at home, but the Dons have captured four of the last five overall. The series has been even in recent years, with USF holding a 10-9 edge during head coach Kerry Keating's nine-year tenure.
