Men's Water Polo Prepares for Summer Break

May 29, 2003

As the Santa Clara men's water polo team approaches the end of their spring practice schedule, Head Coach Keith Wilbur and the players took a quick timeout to discuss their plans for the summer.

Sophomore Peter Moore: This summer I am working at the 49ers-practice facility. I will be setting up the equipment, mowing lawns and painting the numbers on the field.

Freshman Austin Brizgys: I'm going to work at a surf shop by my house in Santa Cruz and practice here everyday.

Sophomore Matt Sanchez: I will be living around campus this summer, hopefully working and working out in the afternoons.

Freshman spring practice participant Mike Peterson: I will be cycling from Key West, Fla., to Bloomington, Ind., and eating lots of hamburgers. The trip is going to take three weeks. It is 1,500 miles.

Freshman spring practice participant Will Vicik: I will be coaching a summer league swim team in Seattle, Wash.

Freshman Mike Vancura: I'm going to be lifeguarding a little bit, and then I am going to Singapore for a couple weeks. I am going to visit friends and travel.

Wilbur: The main thing I will be doing is coaching a summer team here with these guys; playing club. Other than that I will be working here and recruiting and scheduling for next year.
