Men's Water Polo Falls Twice in Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Santa Clara University men's water polo team lost to 18th-ranked BYU Hawaii 13-2 in a late match on Friday night. The Broncos returned to the pool this morning, but dropped an 8-5 decision to Chaminade. The losses move the Broncos to 10-18 on the season.

Freshmen Whit Gilfillan and Austin Brizgys scored one goal apiece against BYU. Sophomore Peter Moore registered nine saves in goal, while head coach Keith Wilbur noted Logan Gee's outstanding performance, as the junior drew six ejections.

Finding themselves down 8-1 midway through the third quarter against Chaminade, the Broncos made a good run to score four straight in their second loss of the weekend. Gilfillan scored twice, while Brizgys, junior J.P Doucette and freshman Marc Hausle tallied one goal apiece. Moore registered 12 saves.

The Broncos continue action in Hawaii with two more contests on Saturday, followed by a match on Sunday.
