Men's Water Polo Falls to Redlands, 12-5

Sept. 21, 2002

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's water polo team fell to Division III top-ranked Redlands 12-5 this afternoon at the East Fieldhouse in Santa Cruz. With the loss, the Broncos move to 4-6 on the season.

"I though we came out flat," head coach Keith Wilbur said. "I don't want to take anything away from Redlands, but we could have played a better game.

Down 6-0 at halftime, the Broncos did not let up, and posted all five goals in the second half. Junior Logan Gee, sophomores Nick Takahashi and Matt Sanchez, and freshmen Jon Greco and Marc Hausle, each posted one score for Santa Clara.

"Our team did play really hard in the second half, and for that I'm proud," Wilbur added. "We just need to put together that kind of effort for an entire game."

The Broncos remain in Santa Cruz for two contests tomorrow, against La Verne at 11:15 a.m. and against host UC Santa Cruz at 2:15 p.m.
