Weiss’ Last Season with Men’s Water Polo

Weiss’ Last Season with Men’s Water Polo

Written by EYEBRONCO reporter Kendra Cavaney '15

One of the men's water polo captains, Patrick Weiss (PW), is entering his last season as a player this Fall. Redshirting last season, Weiss is excited to get back into the pool and compete for his final year.

Losing only two seniors last year, the team has most of its key players returning. Weiss has high hopes for a first-ever league title. Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) had the chance to catch up with Weiss and see what he has been up to this summer.

SCB: How has your summer been?

PW: My summer has been very busy.  Our team participates in club water polo and we had daily practices and games about every other weekend.

SCB: Gearing up for your last season at Santa Clara, how has it been being apart of the men's water polo team?

PW: Playing for this program has been a great experience and it is sad that this will be my last season playing water polo.

SCB: Do you have any goals for this upcoming fall season?

PW: My goal is to help lead this program to its first-ever league title.

SCB: I know your team has played in some summer tournaments. Does this help your team prepare by playing against some teams who you will face in season?

PW: Yes it helps us out a lot.  Every team we played in the summer we will play again in the fall.

SCB: Is there any team that you love to beat/compete against?

PW: I love playing against UC Davis, UC San Diego and LMU as those are all competitive teams in our league.
