Patrick Weiss Named All-American Honorable Mention

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Redshirt senior Patrick Weiss of the men's water polo team has been named by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches to the 2013 All-American Honorable Mention team. This is Weiss' third honor for the 2013 season.

"Patrick Weiss had a great senior season for our men's team," said Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur.  "As our primary two-meter defender, his job was to shut down the best player on the opposing team, and he was excellent at doing this.  At the same time, he was second on our team in goals scored and one of our best offensive players.  He was First Team All-WWPA during the regular season, and he also made the All-WWPA tournament team at conference championships."

Weiss played a crucial part in the teams success this season, starting all 33 games of the season, tied for second on the team in goals scored with 37 and lead with 36 steals for the 2013 season.

"Our team had one of its best seasons to date, finishing ranked 13th in the nation, and Weiss was a main reason for this," said Wilbur.  "His All-American recognition is well deserved, and I am very happy for him."
