No. 14 Broncos Finish Third At WWPA Tournament

Davis, Calif.- The No. 14 Bronco men's water polo team finished off their season on a high note, finishing in third place of the WWPA Tournament with a win over No. 15 LMU, 12-7. The Broncos finished their season with an overall record of 16-15, including 4-3 in conference. They maintained a top-20 ranking all season.

The Lions started off the game by converting on their power play opportunity, and scored the first goal of the game. Patrick Weiss quickly answered back with a goal for the Broncos to tie the game 1-1. LMU put in another goal to regain the lead, but Graham McClone also found the back of the net to end the first quarter tied at 2-2.

Weiss came out firing to start the second quarter, putting in another goal from the Broncos to give them their first advantage of the game 3-2. The Broncos continued a four goal unanswered run with goals by James Rude, Garrat Johnson and Graham McClone and went into half with the advantage, 7-2.
Rude continued the Broncos run to open up the third quarter, giving the Broncos a six goal lead, 8-2. The Lions broke the Broncos run in the fourth minute, but that did not slow down the Broncos.  Tucker Carlson was able to convert on two Bronco power plays to make the score 9-3, Bronco advantage going into the fourth quarter.
 
Theo Nasser scored his first goal of the game to begin the fourth quarter, 10-3 Broncos. LMU converted on a power play, but Rude put in his third goal of the game, 11-3. Frustration set in for the Lions and two of their plays get themselves ejected from the game for misconduct behavior. Matt Kochalko put in his first goal of the game and sealed the deal for the Broncos.
The Broncos left the pool with the win 12-7 win over the Lions.
