No. 16 SCU Men's Water Polo Play Final Conference Games of the Season

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-  The No.16 SCU Men's Water Polo team will bring it home to the Sullivan Aquatic Center this Saturday to play their final home game of the season against Air Force.  They will honor their four seniors Tucker Carlson, Theo Nasser, Jimmy Moore and Patrick Weiss. The Broncos will then travel to No. 12 UC Davis for their final conferece game on Sunday before heading to the WWPA championships. The Broncos are currently 14-12 and 2-1 in conference matches.

"We have two big conference games this weekend," said Bronco head coach Keith Wilbur.  "On Saturday, we host Air Force, and they are a very strong team and the defending WWPA champions from last year.  On Sunday, we play at UC Davis at their pool.  They are the only team in the WWPA without a conference loss this year, so they are the top team in our conference going into the weekend.  These conference match-ups are important, and we are always aiming to play our best in these games.  It should be a good weekend of water polo."

Air Force has been a long standing rival of the Broncos and last season the Broncos fell to the Falcons both times they met. This time, the Broncos are determined to leave the pool with the conference win for the seniors.

This will be the first and only time the Broncos and the Falcons will face each other this year before maybe playing in the WWPA Championships. The Falcons are 5-11 this season and 1-2 in conference, picking up a win over No. 20 Cal Baptist but falling to No. 10 UC San Diego and No. 14 LMU.

Senior attacker Josh Stedman leads the Falcons with 40 goals and 28 steals this season. In the goal for the Falcons is sophomore Caleb Guarino. Guarion has recorded 145 goals this season and has seen action in every game.

On Sunday, the Broncos will travel over to UC Davis. The Broncos and the Aggies played earlier this season, and after a hard fought battle, the Aggies came out with the 9-8 win over the Broncos. The Aggies are currently 11-12 for the season and 3-0 in conference with wins over Cal Baptist, LMU and UC San Diego.

Aggie senior Bernie Rogers and junior Chris Richardson lead the offense for Davis, combining for 83 goals this season. Anchoring the defense for the Aggies is sophomore goalkeeper Phillip Bates, who has tallied 186 saves for the season.

The Broncos are coming off their second conference win of the season over No. 12 LMU, 10-6,Nov. 3 at the Lions home pool. The team hopes to continue the momentum to pick up two more conference wins this weekend.
