SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Junior Elizabeth Anderson of the women's water polo team received Golden Coast Conference (GCC) Player of the Week honors (Feb. 4) after scoring five goals that helped lead the Broncos to their first two wins of the season.
Anderson is the first women's water polo player to receive Player of the Week honors for the 2015 season.
"Elizabeth played very well during our first week of play, and I am very happy to see that she was recognized as Player of the Week by the Golden Coast Conference," said Bronco head coach Keith Wilbur. "Whether scoring goals or earning ejections, she was key for us on offense. Also in certain situations, we needed her to be a shut down defender, and she excelled in this role as well."
Anderson stepped up, scoring three goals in the 10-3 over Monterey and two goals in the 13-7 win over the Sunbirds. On the weekend, Anderson totaled five goals, five earned ejections, two penalty shots earned and four steals.
The Broncos will take to the pool on Feb. 7, traveling to San Diego, Calif. for the UC San Diego Triton Invitational. The Broncos will face some topped ranked completion over the weekend, including No. 6 UC Irvine in their first game.
