SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Josip Vrankic of men's basketball and Emily Wolph of women's basketball have been named the SAAC Broncos of the Month for January.

Vrankic averaged team-highs of 17.1 points on 52 percent shooting from the floor and 6.4 rebounds during eight games in January. 

He had 22 points, including the game-winning basket with 9.4 seconds left, and 10 rebounds in a 67-66 road win over Saint Mary's on Jan. 11. Vrankic posted a career-high 33 points in a heartbreaking 90-86 overtime loss to Pepperdine on Jan. 23. But two days later, the junior forward helped the team rebound in a 65-52 win at San Diego by scoring 20 and collecting nine rebounds.

In nine games during January, including three starts, Wolph tied for the team lead with 9.7 ppg while knocking down a team best 12 3-pointers and dishing out a team high 3.2 assists per game.

She scored in double figures four times, including a season high 20 at Pepperdine when she hit a triple as regulation expired to send the game into overtime. Against the Waves and at San Francisco, Wolph set her season high with four 3-pointers made. She also reached double digit points vs. Portland (12) and at San Diego (10).
