Bronco Supporters Key Record-Setting Day of Giving

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The numbers have been tabulated and Santa Clara Athletics set a record on Day of Giving.

On March 4, the Broncos led all Santa Clara University departments with 1,818 total gifts and $866,575 raised, which will help to support each of our 20 sports, the Bronco Bench Foundation, Bronco Athletic Fund and Schott Athletic Excellence Center.

The Santa Clara Fund was second in total gifts with 423 and the College of Arts and Sciences was No. 2 in donations ($181,983).

The total amount raised for Athletics was a record-breaking mark and an 85-percent increase from last year ($468,000). The record of $853,000 (which included a $400,000 gift) was set in 2016.

"Wow, what an amazing day for Santa Clara Athletics! Bronco Nation answered the call and showed their support for our student-athletes with record results," director of athletics Renee Baumgartner said. "Day of Giving is a very significant each year for our department and we're incredibly grateful for our amazing alums, donors, friends and family who made a huge impact on our student-athletes by participating. Stampede Ahead, Stampede Together...Go Broncos!"

Among the school's sports, men's basketball led the way in total dollars raised ($78,055), while women's water polo had the largest number of donations (272).
