SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara Athletics will recognize its student-athletes during a new-look award show on Wednesday, June 3.

The Santa Clara Student-Athlete Award Show will celebrate the 2019-20 season and recognize all the accomplishments of the school's 20 sports with an online streaming and social media presentation beginning at 7 p.m.

Awards to be bestowed include:
• Jim Jennings Award - Service to the Department of Athletics
• James D. Farwell Award - Highest GPA (Male and Female)
• Marygrace Colby Award - Everyday Champion (Female)
• Henry Schmidt Award - Everyday Champion (Male)
• DJ Frandsen Award - Overcoming Adversity
• Jim Shea Award - Leadership
• Carroll Williams Award - Community Service
• Brandi Chastain Award - Best Female Athlete
• Pat Malley Award - Best Male Athlete

Athletics awards are presented annually at the Red and White Celebration, which also features the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. That event, like the last few weeks of the spring sports season, was canceled due to the coronavirus.

"We are looking forward to recognizing all the great achievements of our student-athletes," director of athletics Renee Baumgartner said. "It was a difficult end to the season for our spring sports, but all of our student-athletes have shown great determination and resolve during the last two months."

Voice of the Broncos Anthony Passarelli will serve as master of ceremonies for the show, which will include addresses from Baumgartner, Father Kevin O'Brien, the school's president, and Noelani Obermeyer, a member of women's cross country/track and field who serves as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
