SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball is recognizing players and coaches who were members of the program from 1960 to 1980 at Saturday's Loyola Marymount game.
Approximately 80 individuals who either played or were members of the program in that period are taking part in Alumni weekend activities surrounding the West Coast Conference contest, which tips off at 2 p.m. in Leavey Center.
Legendary coaches Dick Garibaldi and Carroll Williams will be on hand along with players including Dennis Awtrey, Kevin Eagleson, Bud Ogden, Eric Paulson, Gene Shields, Mike Stewart, Eddie Joe Chavez and Russ Vrankovich.
Garibaldi coached the Broncos for eight seasons beginning in 1962-63, which included NCAA tournament appearances in his final three years.
Williams took over in 1970-71 and spent 22 seasons as head coach. He led the Broncos to four postseason appearances.
The entire group will be recognized at halftime of Saturday's game.
