The Santa Clara University men's and women's cross country teams will welcome a deep and talented recruiting class next fall. The two combined to sign seven incoming freshmen student-athletes.
"Each of the women's signees achieved a 4.0 grade point average during their high school career. That's strong," said Santa Clara head coach Tom Service of the women's class. "We are looking forward to working with our newest student-athletes. They are a talented group of young women who have a great deal of potential. There is a nice balance of potential and proven experience among this group that will mesh very well with the current team."
"On paper, this is the best class we have ever recruited at SCU in men's cross country," Santa Clara Associate Head Coach Felipe Montoro of the men's class. "We have a lot of work to do to ensure they continue developing into the type of distance runners we feel their potential suggests. All four of them have the talent to make a significant impact on our program. I am equally pleased with the level of academic success these athletes had in high school as I am with their athletic accomplishments. Santa Clara cross country takes our academic record very seriously and these athletes will help continue our high level of academic success."
