SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The Santa Clara University baseball program will culminate its grand opening weekend of the new Stephen Schott Stadium by recognizing its local community with Santa Clara Community Day on Sunday, May 1.

Scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch against West Coast Conference rival Gonzaga, the event will serve as the final game of a three-game series against the Bulldogs. Santa Clara Mayor Patricia M. Mahan will throw out the honorary first pitch.

Friday's first game of the series will mark the final baseball game in Buck Shaw Stadium, while Saturday's opener in Schott Stadium is sold out.

Presented by the City of Santa Clara and the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce and Convention-Visitors Bureau, Santa Clara residents will be able to purchase tickets for half price off an adult admission with a valid proof of residency, including a driver's license or utility bill.

Local companies and organizations can also become involved in this event. Click here to download a form to register your organization. Contact Daniel Galvin, Santa Clara Athletics' manager of marketing & promotions, for more information at dgalvin@scu.edu or 408-554-4066.

Tickets are available in advance online by clicking here or by calling the Ticket Office at 408-554-4660. They will also be available at the stadium on gameday.
