Santa Clara Broncos head coach Kerry Keating, on his team facing an 11-point deficit: "We never give up even if we are down by 20 or down by three. We've shown that all season long. We shouldn't put ourselves on that position. I always feel good when we are winning but I don't feel good until the win comes at the end of the game."
Keating, on San Jose State's performance: "SJSU didn't want to guard us man-to-man and we didn't take care of the ball against a zone and that's a disappointment. We didn't give ourselves a chance to win the game because of turnovers. They did a good job and came out with a game plan and executed it. You have got to tip your hat to them and then go get better."
Keating, on his team's rebound performance: "We got out-rebounded and that's the biggest difference in the game especially when it comes down to a one possession which happened tonight."
Mitch Henke, on San Jose State playing the zone defense: "We were surprised to see the zone because they haven't been playing much zone. Usually teams can't guard us when we run our sets, we are shooting great percentages so we have to expect to see a lot more zone."
Henke, looking ahead to the rest of the season: "We take one game at a time; we are not looking at other games. We are just getting ready for St. Mary's this weekend."
Jonathan Gunderson, on his minutes: "I have been trying to take advantage of the minutes I have been getting on the court and earn more time on the court. I think I have been doing a good job and help coming in and making some pretty good shots."
Gunderson, on game: "We can't let someone come into your house and get 15 offense rebounds, and they were playing a zone that we need to carve up. We have to get focused and attack it better."
Gunderson, on this week's practices: "We have three days of practice before Saint Mary's, which is probably going to be the toughest game of the league. We really need to get together these three days and focus on starting the league off well."
