Santa Clara, Calif. - After an exciting week of upsets, the Santa Clara men's water polo will hit the pool again this Friday and Saturday at the Convergence Tournament, in Claremont, Calif. Last week, the Broncos hosted two ranked teams in then-No. 10 Pacific and then-No. 19 UC Santa Cruz and defeated their higher ranked opponents behind a loud and boisterous home crowd. Freshman Jack Wall played a vital role in taming the Tigers 9-8 by scoring four goals, including the game winner with only three seconds left. When the Banana Slugs visited the Leavey Center Pool, five different players scored in the 5-3 victory. As a result of the stellar play, the Broncos found themselves ranked No. 20 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 20 Poll, the first time this season that Santa Clara has been ranked.

"We had a couple of good wins, so it was nice to make the Top 20 poll," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "I don't want to get too excited because there's still a lot of water polo to be played, but it's nice to get some recognition."

Santa Clara will start off the Convergence Tournament on Friday against Occidental College at 10:30 a.m., followed by a 5 p.m. date with Chaminade College. On Saturday, SCU will face Harvard University in an early 8 a.m. match, while the tournament will conclude for the Broncos after a 12:30 p.m. face-off with Claremont College. The Friday matches will take place on the campus of Pomona College, while Saturday's contests will be held on the campus of Claremont College.

"We have three conference games and we have a game against Harvard. They are all important games and we want to continue to play well and build off of last week's performance."
