Oct. 22, 2005

Davis, Calif. - In a match between two of the top teams in the Western Water Polo Association, No. 10 UC Davis prevailed over visiting No. 17 Santa Clara this afternoon, 6-4. In a tightly fought contest, the Aggies managed to pull away from the Broncos in the final quarter to secure the conference victory.

"UC Davis is a great team and it was a really tight game," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "We didn't finish the game out like we should have. It was a really close game, but they jumped out on us in the fourth quarter."

Leading the charge for SCU was Chris Parolin, who totaled two goals and one steal, along with drawing a kickout. Mike Detoy and Tommy Kelly each added one goal. On the defensive end, goalie Mike Petersen made 13 saves and also chipped in a steal. Kevin Starry tallied two steals in the losing effort.

Santa Clara drops its season record to 13-10. The Broncos will return to action next weekend when the team returns to Davis for the Davis Shootout on October 28 and 29.
