No. 17 Santa Clara Travels to No. 10 UC Davis

Oct. 20, 2005

Santa Clara, Calif. - Coming off of an upset victory over then-No. 16 Air Force, the No. 17 Santa Clara men's water polo team (13-9) will be seeking their fourth victory over a ranked opponent this season when they visit No. 10 UC Davis (10-9) on Saturday. The match-up between the two Western Water Polo Association rivals is slated for a noon start time at the UC Davis Schaal Aquatics Center.

"Saturday's game against UC Davis should be great competition. Davis has been having a strong year, and they are an important conference rival, so we know we are going to have to get up to play them," said head coach Keith Wilbur.

The Broncos offense will be lead by high-scoring freshman Jack Wall. The highly-regarded first-year player provided much of the scoring punch against Air Force last weekend, tossing in three goals to guide his squad to the 8-6 overtime victory. Wilbur will also turn to senior Grant Allison, junior Kevin Starry and sophomore Chris Parolin to support Wall in the pool. Defensively, SCU has leaned on junior Mike Petersen, who has done a superb job in the cage for his teammates and been instrumental in the success Santa Clara has experienced in 2005.

After the match-up with the Aggies this Saturday, the Broncos will return to Davis, Calif. for the Davis Invitational the following weekend for a two-day tournament.
