SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball is the No. 4 seed in the 2021 WCC Beach Volleyball Championship and begins play in the two-day event on Friday morning. The Broncos face fifth-seeded Pacific in the tournament's first dual at Dockweiler Beach in El Segundo, California. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
Santa Clara has earned its highest seed for the event since being seeded No. 3 at the inaugural WCC Championship in 2016.

The Broncos (5-5, 3-3 WCC) will play at least two duals on Friday in the double-elimination tournament. If they defeat the Tigers (4-6, 1-4), they face top-seeded LMU at noon. If they fall to the Tigers, they face an opponent to be determined at 3 p.m.
Santa Clara topped Pacific 4-1 in the only meeting between the teams this season at the WCC Midseason Invitational on April 8. Michelle Shaffer/Julia Sangiacomo finished the regular season with a team best six match wins apiece and have played on court one or court two for all of their matches.
Pacific enters the tournament with three wins in its last four duals, including a 4-1 victory over San Francisco to cap the regular season on April 30. Jenny Todd/Jadyn Tubbs have won five straight matches entering the tournament.
Defending champion LMU is the top overall seed and ranked fifth in the country, followed by Pepperdine (2 seed, No. 13), Saint Mary's (3 seed, RV), the Broncos, the Tigers, San Francisco and Portland.
