No. 7 Women's Soccer Welcomes Gonzaga Sunday for WCC Matchup

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 7 Santa Clara women's soccer finishes a three-game homestand Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Gonzaga.

The Broncos grinded out a 3-2 overtime victory against Portland on Friday night to move into a tie for first place in the West Coast Conference.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 21-1-2 all-time against Gonzaga with the first meeting coming in 1993. Last year the Bronco won 2-1 in Spokane and have won nine in a row and are unbeaten in the last 10 meetings.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara's (13-2-1, 4-1 WCC) 36 goals are the second most in the WCC and the Broncos have put 122 of their 268 shots on target.

Despite missing three games while she was away with the Mexican National Team, Maria Sanchez is tied for the Broncos lead with 17 points behind four goals and a conference-high tying nine assists. Maddy Gonzalez leads the team with seven goals and has two assists. Kelcie Hedge has scored six goals in her last five matches and is tied with Gonzalez with seven on the year to go with an assist. Kelsey Turnbow has scored six times and Skylar Smith has found the back of the net five times.

Melissa Lowder has started all 16 games and allowed 15 goals for a 1.07 GAA. She has 51 saves and a .773 save percentage to go with five shutouts.

THE BULLDOGS
Gonzaga (8-3-3, 3-1-1 WCC) has outscored its opponents 20-14 on the year while going 3-0-1 in its last four matches.

India Jencks leads the Bulldogs with five goals and 12 points while Jodi Ulkekul has scored four times with one assist. Samantha Heilman leads the team with five assists and Sophia Viviano has four. Both players have scored once apiece.

Isabel Jones has started all 14 matches while allowing 13 goals and making 39 saves. She has a 0.89 GAA and a .750 save percentage with four shutouts.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
