Meet the Future of Santa Clara Softball: Sydnie Hersh

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball head coach Lisa Mize has signed six student-athletes to NLIs for the 2016 season. Sydnie Hersh, a pitcher and first baseman from Albany, Calif., attended Albany High School.

"I chose Santa Clara because the rigorous academics and competitive softball program will challenge me on and off the field," said Hersh. "When I visited Santa Clara I fell in love with the beautiful campus, the new softball facilities, and supportive atmosphere. After talking with Coach Mize, I knew I wanted to make Santa Clara my home."

"Sydnie is a great down ball type pitcher and has great potential as a Bronco," said Mize. "We are thrilled to welcome her to Santa Clara and the Bronco family."

As a junior Hersh was named First Team All-League and led the league with a 0.93 ERA.

As a freshman she was All-League honorable mention and named Queen of the Mountain Tournament MVP. That season she also hit five home runs.

Hersh has been a volunteer coach at the All-American Sports Academy defensive skills clinic the last two years.

In her free time she enjoys art.
