Men's Golf Finishes First Tournament of Spring 2002 Season

LOMPOC, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team moved up one spot in tough playing conditions at the UCSB Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Tournament Tuesday afternoon, finishing above Wyoming and Cal State Northridge.

The Broncos finished 17th in their first tournament of the Spring 2002 season after not participating in a tournament for nearly four months.

Sandy Horacek was the top finisher for Santa Clara, finishing in a tie for 48th place with a three-round total of 12-over par, 228. Matt Klenz finished just one stroke behind Horacek, while Chris DeMartini finished the tournament with a score of 19-over, 235.

Kevin Bric and Jonathan Edwards rounded out the scoring for the Broncos, finishing in a tie for 90th place with a score of 241.

The Broncos will not have to wait as long as they did this time for their next tournament as they will take place in the Cal State Sacramento tournament on Monday and Tuesday, March 11-12.
