SEASIDE, Calif. - Santa Clara University's men's golf assistant coach Arron Oberholser advanced on to the final stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School on Friday with his 10th place finish in the second stage held at the Blackhorse Golf Course in Seaside, Calif.

Oberholser fired rounds of 73, 74, 71 and 67 to qualify for the final stage in Florida. The final stage will be comprised of 69 players that advanced from the three different second-round stages that were held throughout the week as well as those players who did not retain their tour card this year.

Oberholser is a student of Santa Clara head coach John Kennaday and was in a similar situation last year when he qualified for the final stage of the Q-School, but missed qualifying for the PGA Tour by only one stroke.

"Arron has the type of game that could do well on the PGA Tour level," said Kennaday. "I think he has a legitimate shot to make the cut in Florida and win his tour card."

If Oberholser is to capture one of only 35 cards available, he will have to endure a grueling six-round tournament that will take place November 28-December 3 in West Palm Beach, Fla. The Q-School began its first stage two weeks ago with nearly 1,200 entrants competing to move on to the next stage.

The third stage will be played at the Bear Lakes Country Club and can be followed by the live scoring link on the PGA Tour website.
