Men's Golf Signs Two Standouts to Letters of Intent

Nov. 26, 2001

Santa Clara University's head men's golf coach John Kennaday announced the signings of Vincent Aicale and Eric Lillibridge who will begin classes in the fall of 2002.

Aicale will come to the Mission Campus from Miramonte High school in Orinda, Calif., where he earned DSAL League MVP honors. He will bring his index rating of +.2 to an already young Bronco team. Aicale's strength lies in his short game as shown in his competitive low round of 69.

He has played in numerous amateur events including the FCWT Western Regional where he placed ninth out of 87 participants with a three round score of 227. He finished first at the NCGA Junior Championship Qualifier in May of 2000. In July of 2001 he finished second out of 69 players at the PGA Junior Series in Washington with a two-round score of 148.

Lillibridge will come to Santa Clara from Justin Sienna High School in Napa, Calif. He will bring a scoring index of +.5 to the Mission Campus and numerous experiences from state, regional and national amateur tournaments.

He finished first out of 98 players at the 54th Len Ross Jr. Tournament in Fresno, Calif., with a four-round score of 285, which includes a third-round score of 63 in April of 2001. He also finished first in the North/South Match Play Tournament in August of 2000. His best national finish was fifth place out of 36 players at the World Junior Golf Cup that he played in June of 2001 in Florida.

Aicale and Lillibridge will bring depth and youth to a young team already on the rise. The Broncos finished their 2001 Fall Season with back-to-back fourth place finishes at the Bronco Invitational and the University of Hawaii Fall Invitational. They will return to action in the Spring of 2002 at the UCSB Bite Invitational March 6-7 in Lompoc, Calif.
