SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team fired its lowest round of the tournament in the final round of the 56th Annual Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, hosted by San Jose State.

Following two rounds on Monday that saw the Broncos shoot scores above 300 as a team, Santa Clara regrouped and fired a 295 Tuesday morning in the final round. Despite the score the Broncos were unable to move up in the rankings, finishing 16th at the prestigious tournament with a three-round team total of 903.

Freshman Matt Klenz finished as the top finisher for the Broncos, completing the three-round event in a tie for 14th with a score of 3-over par, 213. Sandy Horacek fired a final round 76, pushing him back into a tie for 44th with a three-round score of 233.

Chris DeMartini shot the second best round of the day for the Broncos on Tuesday, finishing the round with a 4-over par score of 74, making his three-day total of 234 good enough to finish in a tie for 82nd.

Jonathan Edwards finished tied for 80th with a score of 233, after a third round 76, while Skye Skikos finished his second tournament of the year with a three-round total of 266.

The University of Washington won the tournament with a team score of 6-under par, 834, 20 strokes ahead of second place Fresno State. Host San Jose State finished 3rd as a team, while fellow Bay Area competitors California and Stanford finished 8th and 14th, respectively.

Individually, Washington's Conner Robbins took home the Medallist honors with a three-round total of 8-under par, 202. Robbins' teammate Brock Mackenzie finished in a tie for second place with Chris Marshall from Kansas, both completing the tournament with a score of 2-under par, 208.

Santa Clara will return to action next Monday and Tuesday when they participate in the West Coast Conference Golf Championships at the Riverbend Golf Club in Madera, Calif.
