LAS VEGAS – Santa Clara men's soccer wraps competition at UNLV's Johann Memorial Classic in Las Vegas on Sunday at 9 p.m. PT against Cal State Fullerton.

The Broncos are 12-9-2 all-time against the Titans with three of those matchups coming in 2014 and 2015. The first two went the way of Cal State Fullerton but the Broncos were victorious in the second matchup of 2015 with a 3-0 victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

On Friday, Santa Clara (1-2) played another close game but came up short against UC Riverside, allowing a goal in the 85th minute to lose, 1-0.

"It's a matter of responding and getting better and stepping up," head coach Cameron Rast said. "The Fullerton team we're about to play is very good, I think they might even be ahead of Riverside after watching them play UNLV. I think it's going be a really tough contest."

THE BRONCOS

Scoring has not come easy for Santa Clara just yet but the defense has been sharp. An experienced back line in front of sophomore goalkeeper Dakota Havlick has allowed just 20 shots and two goals in 270 minutes.

The lone goal of the season for the Broncos thus far came from senior Edson Cardona's left foot at the penalty spot against Northwestern. The goal in the 83rd minute was the 11th of Cardona's career and the fourth game-winner.

THE TITANS

Cal State Fullerton (1-2) won its first game of the season on Friday night, beating host UNLV, 3-1, with senior Alex Heilmann scoring all three goals for the Titans. The first two games of the season were on the road against Vermont where they lost, 3-2. The Titans took on UCLA on the road and lost, 1-0.

Heilmann's hat trick against UNLV brings his season total to four, tops on the team. Ronaldo Pineda leads the team in shots with 14 and has scored one goal.

Senior David Elias and freshman Paul-Andre Guerin have split time at goalkeeper for the Titans. Guerin has started two games (1-1 record), playing 184 minutes while Elias has started one game (0-1 record) and played 108 minutes. Elias has allowed three goals to Guerin's two.

Cal State Fullerton has won the Big West Tournament the last two years.
