Men’s Water Polo Freshman Earns Weekly Conference Award

DAVIS, Calif. – The Santa Clara men's water polo team was rewarded for winning three of four games at the Princeton Invitational as one of its newcomers earned conference player of the week.

Mac Carey was named the Kap7 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) co-Player of the Week on Wednesday. He shared the award with UC San Diego's Arman Momdzhyan.

During the four contests in Princeton, New Jersey, Carey scored 11 goals, dished out 11 assists and earned seven ejections. The freshman posted two goals and a career-best six assists in Friday's 16-9 win over Iona, and registered a career-high four goals and three assists in Sunday's 10-8 victory over Fordham. He scored at least two goals in each of the four games.

The Broncos (3-2) open WWPA play Thursday when they travel to face Fresno Pacific.
