Briana Knight Finishes Season Hitting .413 for Santa Clara

MORAGA, Calif. – Santa Clara University's Briana Knight finished the 2011 season with a .413 batting average. The junior from Fairfield, Calif. went 31 for 75 with eight homeruns and 20 RBI. She has been an All-Pacific Coast Softball Conference award winner in each of her previous two seasons at SCU.

Santa Clara (6-33; 2-18 PCSC) finished the 2011 season over the weekend, losing four-straight on the road to league rival St. Marys (15-23,11-9 PCSC). The Gaels won a pair of lopsided games Sunday by scores of 11-1 and 10-1.

The Gaels swept a Saturday afternoon doubleheader, winning close games 5-4 (8 innings) and 9-3. SCU lead Game One Saturday in the seventh inning and Game Two was tied 3-3 in the sixth.

Knight had four hits and two doubles during the four-game series in Moraga. Senior Amanda Edmonson finished out her college career by hitting .500 against SMC, going 4 for 8. Kristin Welsh and Stephanie Fisher combined for nine hits over the weekend and Catherin Surane had a 3 for 4 game in the series opener.
