Pacific Claims Tuesday Night Game Versus Santa Clara

STOCKTON, Calif. – Jamie Wallis hit a solo homerun for Santa Clara Tuesday night against Pacific, but the Tigers won handily on their home field 11-1. SCU trailed 3-1 after four innings, then UOP's offense broke it open, scoring five times in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

Wallis finished the night 2-for-3, Kelly Scribner added a pair of hits for SCU and senior Jackie Nicora extended her team-leading hitting streak to eight games.

Santa Clara (6-14; 2-2 PCSC) was playing its first of six games this week, with the team's home-opener up next – a Thursday afternoon game with Oregon State at West Valley College in Saratoga. The Broncos will then play a Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) series with Loyola Marymount, with a doubleheader on both Saturday and Sunday.

Tuesday night, freshman starter Jessica Turner was touched up for 10 earned runs on 10 hits. Her record falls to 1-9.

Pacific (25-13; 4-2 Big West) has now exceeded its win total from 2010. The Tigers entered the game hitting .314 as a team and gave the ball to right-hander Tori Shepard, who pitched six quality innings to up her season record to 10-5.
