SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The 14th-ranked Santa Clara University women's volleyball team made quick work of Saint Mary's College Saturday night, cruising to a 3-0 victory in the Leavey Center on the SCU campus. With the win the Broncos improve to 14-6 overall and 5-0 in West Coast Conference action while dropping the Gaels to 15-8 overall and 2-4 in league play.

"It was a very successful weekend for us," said SCU head coach Jon Wallace. "A great deal of credit has to go to setter Kelli Sousa this weekend. She spread the ball around beautifully and set her teammates up in situations that they were able to be swing freely. It is the best she has played all season long in my opinion."

Sousa ended the evening with 54 assist in only three games. Her nine kills and two opportune kills guided the Broncos to their 13th straight victory over Saint Mary's.

Santa Clara's balanced attack all evening proved too much for their counterparts as Toni Muratore led four Broncos in double-digit kills with her 16. Becky Potter trailed closely behind with her 15 while her 18 digs were a match high.

As a team the Broncos notched 19 more digs on the evening and limited Saint Mary's to a .203 hitting percentage. SCU's hitting percentage of .315 was their fifth-best output of the season while their 63 kills was their highest output for a three-game match this year.

Kaui Salzman was the only Saint Mary's player to reach double-digit kills, posting 16 on 45 swings. Mandy Bible registered 44 assists while Salzman's 11 digs were a team-high.

Santa Clara returns to action next weekend with a pair of matches at No. 19 Loyola Marymount and No. 6 Pepperdine. Friday night's match at LMU is slated for 7 p.m. while Sunday's match against the Waves will begin at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on CSTV.
