SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara middle blocker Becky Potter was named an AVCA Third Team All-American Thursday morning. The award is her second All-America honor in as many years as the senior from Clovis, Calif. earned second team honors in 2002 as a junior, which marked the first-ever All-American selection in Santa Clara volleyball history.

During her senior season in 2003 Potter helped the Broncos to a 20-11 overall record and the program's sixth-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Santa Clara went 11-3 in the West Coast Conference, finishing second, trailing only fourth-ranked Pepperdine in the league standings.

It was against Pepperdine on November 21 that Potter again etched her name into Bronco Volleyball history as her 15th kill of the night, giving her the all-time kills mark at Santa Clara. With her 522 kills in '03, Potter ended her career with 1,812 for her career and became only the fourth player in WCC history to surpass 1,800 kills in a career.

Potter's dominance this year also came on the defensive side as she averaged 3.12 digs and 1.15 blocks per game. She ended her playing days on the Mission Campus with 1,131 digs and 389 total blocks, ranking her eighth all-time at SCU in digs and third all-time in blocks.

The honor comes just eight days after she was selected to the All-Pacific Region First Team for the second-straight season. She was a three-time All-WCC first team performer and earned WCC Player of the Week honors eight times in her career and was the WCC Freshman of the Year in 2000.

She leaves the program as one of only seven players in Bronco Volleyball history to have qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of their four years at SCU, joining Jami Bari (1998-2001), Becky Biniek (2000-2003), Chrissy Hirsch (1999-2002), Cindy Hirsch (1999-2002, Kelli Sousa (2000-2003) and Merrin Thompson (1998-2001). Santa Clara compiled a 90-33 record in the four years in which Potter donned a Bronco uniform.
