Women's Water Polo Leads Early, Falls at No. 11 UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. — The Santa Clara University women's water polo team fell on the road Saturday at No. 11 UC Davis, 16-6, in a non-conference game at Schaal Aquatics center.

Santa Clara (8-15) scored the first goal of the game and led the No. 11 Aggies (14-10), 1-0, two minutes into the game. Lauren Baglietto got the Broncos on the board with an exclusion goal.

UC Davis responded with five unanswered goals and led 5-2 after the first period, never to trail again in the game.

Santa Clara got single goals from Baglietto, Elle Fredrickson, Kate Rodman, Sydney Maccabe, Lauren Voss and Sophia Harvey. Georgia Lewis made 10 saves in goal for the Broncos. Grace Pelkey led UC Davis with four goals.

Santa Clara next takes on the No. 1 team in the nation on the road Sunday when it travels to Stanford. The game will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network. Fans can find all live coverage links on SantaClaraBroncos.com.
