SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's basketball team's season came to an end Sunday night after the team did not earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament or the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The Broncos posted a 21-10 (10-4 WCC) record on the season, but that was not enough to earn a spot in either postseason tournament.
In Dick Davey's final season at SCU, the Broncos finished second in the West Coast Conference in the regular season and lost 77-68 in the WCC Tournament Championship game on March 5 in Portland, Ore. The 2006-07 season was also the last season at SCU for seniors, Sean Denison, Scott Dougherty, Joey Kaempf, Tristan Parham, Danny Pariseau and Brandon Rohe.
SCU together one of its best seasons ever under Davey with 21 wins, good for fifth all-time in school history. The Broncos also had 10 wins in conference for the first time since 2001 and the fifth time in Davey's career. The team had its best conference finish since 1997 when SCU captured the WCC title.
Davey was named WCC Coach of the Year, while Denison was named WCC Co-Player of the Year. Denison, Dougherty and Pariseau were All-WCC First Team selections, while junior Brody Angley was All-WCC Honorable Mention.
