STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) - Danny Pariseau scored a career-high 20 points and five assists Saturday night as Santa Clara pulled away in the second half to rout Pacific 67-49, the Tigers' worst home loss in 15 seasons.
Pacific, trailing 28-23 at halftime, scored the first seven points of the second half to take its first lead since the game's opening moments.
But Mitch Henke scored eight consecutive points to complete a 16-1 Santa Clara run midway through the second half that turned a close game into a blowout.
Henke finished with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Broncos (6-3), while John Bryant added 13 points and six rebounds in one his best games of the season. Michael White and C.J. Morgan each scored 10 points to lead Pacific (3-6), which lost its third game in a row.
Santa Clara built an eight-point lead three times in the first half, but Pacific rallied to get within 24-23 on Anthony Brown's two free throws with 2:31 to play before the break. But the Tigers didn't score again the remainder of the half.
The Broncos outscored Pacific 14-2 inside the paint, and the Tigers shot 26 percent from the field in the first half, making only six of their 23 shots. For the game Santa Clara out-rebounded Pacific 39-24 and shot 49 percent from the field.
Starting point guard Brody Angley did not start for the Broncos after suffering from food poisoning throughout the week. He came off the bench to play 15 minutes. Calvin Johnson made his second start of the season in place of Angley. Also, senior guard Joey Kaempf returned to action and played 11 minutes. He had missed five straight games with a sprained right foot.
Santa Clara returns home on Monday night as the Broncos host Rodney Stuckey and the Eastern Washington Eagles at 7:00 p.m. PT at the Leavey Center.
