Schumann, McIntosh Headline Six Broncos Earning WCC All-Academic Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce the 2015 West Coast Conference Men's Soccer All-Academic team. The Broncos saw sophomore Kyle Schumann (left) and senior Kendall McIntosh (right) recognized as two of the league's top 11 student-athletes.

For McIntosh (Business Finance, 3.72 GPA) it's his third consecutive WCC All-Academic Team award. He has been terrific for SCU as a three-year starting goalkeeper, ranking fourth all-time in career saves with 196. He has been honored as an All-West Coast Conference player in each of the last two seasons as a player. He has four shutouts this year and 14 for his career.

Schumann (Mechanical Engineering, 3.63 GPA) is taking on one of the most demanding course studies at SCU, Mechanical Engineering. He has played in 12 games this year, starting as a defender in the Bronco backfield.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport.  To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.

Santa Clara players earning WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention honors:
Senior Max Ornstil (Business Finance, 3.35 GPA) - starting midfielder and three-time WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention award winner.
Senior Matt Escobar (Economics, 3.32 GPA) - Has fought through injury this season to provide leadership and experience in the backfield as one of the WCC's top defenders. WCC All-Academic honoree a year ago.
Sophomore Valdemar Andersen (Economics, 3.373 GPA) - Denmark native who earned 2014 All-WCC Honorable Mention accolades as a player. Essential in helping the Broncos post four shutouts to date, including two in WCC play.
Senior Dylan Autran (French & Francophone Studies, 3.22 GPA) - Has enjoyed a break-out year as a senior in 2015, assisting and scoring as a starting midfielder for the Broncos.
