LINCOLN, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team finished off the first two rounds of play at the NCAA Western Regional Preview on Monday, sitting in 16th place overall. Senior Corey Utsurogi led the team with rounds of 73 and 77 and is currently tied for 24th.
Miki Ueoka, back playing with the team after being absent for two tournaments, struggled a bit to get back into form, shooting a first round 81. But Ueoka battled back in the second round, shooting a team best 76 for the round and moved her to +13 for the tournament. Ueoka is tied with Katie Sharpe, who shot the second best round for Santa Clara in the first round with a 77 and notched a second round score of 80.
Erin Sullivan is right behind her teammates with consistent rounds of 79 and 80 to finish her first day at +15. Jenny Nelson rounds things out with a score of +19 with her rounds of 79 and 84.
All five Broncos participating have helped their team score in at least one round so far, an accomplishment that speaks to the all-around quality of the team.
The third and final round will be played Tuesday, April 1st.
