Final Round Results Get Acrobat Reader

LINCOLN, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team finished their play at the NCAA Western Regional Preview this week at Sacramento State. The Broncos finished in 18th place in their final tournament before the WCC Championships in Tacoma, Wash.

Corey Utsurogi led the team after the first two rounds. She notched a team high seven birdies on the first day, but did not record any in her final round of 83. She finished on top for Santa Clara with a final score of +17 for the tournament and tied for 47th.

Miki Ueoka rebounded from her first round score of 81 to lead the team in scoring for the second straight round. Her final round score of 78 left her at +19 for the tournament and tied for 57th place.

Erin Sullivan recorded her second straight round of 80, and even keel round in which she recorded no "others." She finished at +23. Katie Sharpe was tied for second on the team with Ueoka going into the last day, but a final round 89 gave her a final score of +30.

Jenny Nelson finished fifth on the team at +32, but her final round score of 85 scored for the Broncos on the last day of play.

Hilaire Fouts and Jamie Nonaka played the tournament as individuals. Fouts had rounds of 82, 79, and 82 to finish at +27 and Nonaka charted an 82, 83, and 86 to finish at +35.

The Broncos will have two weeks to prepare before the WCC Championships on April 14 and 15. Last year the team took fourth and was led by the freshman Nonaka who placed 10th.
