SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After the conclusion of the 2008 WCC Golf Championships this week, five Santa Clara student-athletes were given All-WCC honors. Scott Travers of the men's team and Corey Utsurogi of the women's earned All-WCC First Team honors. Jonathan Keane of the men's and Hilaire Fouts and Miki Ueoka of the women's received All-WCC Honorable Mention.

Travers was given one of the four All-WCC spots available before the beginning of the WCC Championships. He then placed 9th in the tournament. Travers finished this year with a 72.41 scoring average which was tops on the team. He won the UCI Anteater Invitational in a three-hole playoff earlier this year, had four top ten finishes and eight top 20 finishes. Travers was also named the WCC Player of the Month for February.

Utsurogi made a remarkable turnaround from last year's WCC Championships, where she tied for the highest score. This year she led the Broncos back to the third spot in the conference while placing in the top ten. Over the season, she played in every tournament and was second on the team in scoring average. Utsurogi had two top-ten finishes, including her second place finish by one stroke at UCSC Spring Invite.

Keane had three top 15 finishes this year and was named to the All-WCC team for his performance in the WCC Championships. Keane shot a first round three-under 69 which put him in second place at the time. He finished tied for 14th with a score of +10.

Fouts enjoys her second straight year on the All-WCC Honorable Mention Team. She tied for 11th at the WCC Championships, just two strokes behind Utsurogi and was tied for second after the first round of play with a one-over 73, her best round of the year.

Ueoka had been the driving force for Santa Clara for the majority of the year. She led the team in scoring average by three strokes, placed in the top-20 of all but one tournament, including a second place finish at the Lampkin Cup/Cal Poly Invitational, and was heading for an All-WCC First team bid before a rough patch on her final three holes at the WCC Championships.
