Boise, Idaho - The Santa Clara Women's Golf team opened up their season Monday at the Boise State Bronco Invitational. After two rounds, the team sits in 7th place out of 13 teams with one round to go.

The weather turned on the tournament early, becoming incredibly windy early in the morning and not letting up all day. It was a frustrating day for everyone on the course where high scores were the norm.

Freshman Miki Ueoka, playing in her first collegiate tournament, shot a team best +15 which left her in sole possession of 15th place.

Senior Corey Utsurogi showed her experience by playing through the weather, shooting 17 over and is currently tied for 20th.

Also scoring for the Broncos were sophomore Jamie Nonaka, tied for 26th at +18, and freshman Katherine Suarez who shot a 30 over in two rounds and is tied for 53rd.

Freshman Katie Sharpe rounded out the Bronco's effort at +33, leaving her tied for 60th.

Tomorrow looks to be just as windy, but Santa Clara is ready for it and looks to go much lower than today.
