Seniors Lead Santa Clara Past LMU, 10-3

Final Stats

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Nate Garcia threw a complete game six-hitter and Geoff Klein homered in Santa Clara's 10-3 win over Loyola Marymount Friday.

Garcia - making his final start in a terrific four-year SCU career - fanned 10 and walked just one. Garcia (4-9) is vying to lead in the West Coast Conference in strikeouts for the second straight year.

Klein homered to centerfield in the sixth to give his senior classmate Garcia a seven-run lead. The Broncos totaled 14 hits. Klein finished the day 2-for-3. Lucas Herbst and Ryan Rieger both had four hits.

Santa Clara (22-30; 7-12 WCC) entered the weekend with chance to finish the season in the top half of the WCC. The weekend marks the final games of the year for both schools.

LMU (22-32; 4-15 WCC) has lost 10 of 12. The Lions generated a pair of doubles and a triple against Garcia but the game's outcome was never in question.

The series will continue with afternoon games Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
