SANTA CALRA, Calif. - Santa Clara University junior first baseman Curtis Wagner - the West Coast Conference batting leader (.404 BA) - was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII baseball team. Wagner has earned a 3.8 cumulative GPA studying in the Leavey School of Business, majoring in Economics.
Wagner is a native of Manhattan Beach, California and 2007 graduate of Loyola High School. He earned WCC All-Academic honors as a sophomore last season and is on Santa Clara's student-athlete honor roll. He is currently leading the WCC with a .404 batting average, hitting 16 doubles and collecting 32 RBI through 44 games this season.
"Making sure you manage your time is key," said Wagner about being able to balance baseball and his studies. "I learned that early on in high school. Here at Santa Clara it becomes even more important with increased emphasis and time put into baseball."
