SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara Baseball commit Travis Howard has been named AZPreps365.com's Arizona High School Baseball Division II Player of the Year. Howard is also a First Team All-Division II selection — one of 13 players and just three pitchers to receive the honor in 2015.
Howard, currently a senior at Marana High School in Marana, Ariz., is a three-sport high school athlete. He won a state wrestling championship at the 220-pound division in February and was named State Wrestler of the Year. Howard was also a standout tight end/defensive end for the Tigers football team. He is committed to play baseball at Santa Clara as an incoming freshman for the 2016 season.
