SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball played its last two games in Canada, but the team will participate in its first road contest of the season on Saturday, though it will be nearby as the Broncos have their annual tilt against San Jose State. Tipoff between the Broncos and Spartans (1-4) is set for 3 p.m. in Event Center.

The Broncos (0-4) dropped both of their games at the inaugural Vancover Showcase.

Santa Clara led for much of the first half against Minnesota on Tuesday, but the Gophers dominated in rebounding (49-33) and went to the line 37 times in an 80-66 win in the tournament finale. Josip Vrankic, a Toronto, Ontario native, had a career-high 21 points against the Huskies. Jaylen Nowell's 32 points helped Washington knock off the Broncos 82-68 in Sunday's tourney.

This season, the Broncos feature a new-look roster.

Guard KJ Feagin, and forwards Henrik Jadersten and Josip Vrankic are the only returning rotational players. Feagin, a three-year starter, is a two-time All-West Coast Conference selection who averaged 17.5 points per game (fifth in the league) and 4.0 assists pg (ninth in the league) in 2017-18. Jadersten appeared in 84 games his first three years and Vrankic was one of the more productive freshmen in the WCC during 2017-18. Vrankic was third on the team in both scoring (10.4 ppg) and rebounding (4.6 pg)..

Sophomore guard Tahj Eaddy is eligible this season after sitting out 2017-18. He transferred from Southeast Missouri last summer.

There are eight additions to the 2018-19 squad, including five true freshmen in Guglielmo Caruso (Naples, Italy), Juan Ducasse (Montevideo, Uruguay), Keshawn Justice (Madison, Wisconsin), Zeke Richards (Oak Park, California) and Trey Wertz (Charlotte, North Carolina). Fallou Ndoye, DJ Mitchell and Josh Martin are transfers. Ndoye (CSU Bakersfield) and Martin (Cal Poly) are graduate transfers with immediate eligibility. Mitchell played the last two seasons at Wake Forest and will sit out 2018-19.

YEAR THREE UNDER SENDEK
The Broncos are in their 112th year of existence, including third under Herb Sendek, who has been successful in each of his three previous head-coaching stops. With a resume that includes 18 postseason appearances and three conference coach of the year awards, Sendek, was one of the three youngest coaches with 400 or more career victories. He is in his 25th season as a collegiate head coach with stops at Arizona State, North Carolina State and Miami (Ohio).

QUICK HITS
• KJ Feagin injured his left hand against UC Irvine (Nov. 15). Further evaluation revealed a broken bone and he is out of action indefinitely.
• Tahj Eaddy is the team's leading scorer (14.5 ppg) and averages 3.5 rebounds per game. Keshawn Justice is second in scoring (13.3 ppg) and is shooting at a 51.3-percent clip from floor. He also is averaging a team-high 1.8 steals per game. Josh Martin is the leading rebounder at 7.3 per contest.
• Justice and Eaddy are the only players to reach double-figure scoring in all four games ... Josip Vrankic has connected on 14 of 23 field goals in the last two games.
• The Broncos have struggled shooting from the field and free-throw line, but have connected on 44 percent from the floor in the last two games after hitting only 33 percent in the opening two contests.
• Eight of the 10 Santa Clara players who saw action in the season opener against Prairie View A&M (Nov. 9) appeared for the first time as Broncos..

THE SAN JOSE STATE SERIES...
The Broncos lead the all-time series 80-30 with victories in six of the last eight matchups. The teams are meeting for the 24th consecutive season (since 1995-96) and in 36 of the last 37 years (since 1982-83). The 110 games played are the sixth highest total of any Santa Clara opponent and most against a nonconference foe. The Spartans have won the last two in the series.

RADIO/LIVE STREAM
Anthony Passarelli (play-by-play) and John Stege (analyst) will call the action during the season on radio and through TheW.tv at home. All Broncos home games and West Coast Conference contests (not on an ESPN platform or BYUtv) will also be streamed through TheW.tv (local blackout restrictions apply for games broadcast over the air).
