VIDEO | Sendek, Vrankic Discuss Upcoming Stretch of Games

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Following two straight on the road, Santa Clara men's basketball plays its next seven at home beginning on Thursday.

The Broncos will face Jackson State (1-6) at 7 p.m. in Leavey Center.

Two days after securing its first win of the season, the Broncos (1-5) were unable to make it two in a row on Monday. A sluggish first half was too much to overcome for Santa Clara which lost to California, 78-66. Matt Bradley posted 16 points and Juhwan Harris-Dyson 14 for the Bears who held off a second-half rally in the first meeting between the schools in 12 years.

The Broncos got their most complete performance of the season in Saturday's 71-63 win at San Jose State. Tahj Eaddy (23), Josip Vrankic (18) and Henrik Jadersten (17) combined for 58 points as Santa Clara shot a season-best 47 percent from the floor and nailed 11 from behind the 3-point line.

This season, the Broncos feature a new-look roster.

Guard KJ Feagin, and forwards Henrik Jadersten and Josip Vrankic are the only returning rotational players. Feagin, a three-year starter, is a two-time All-West Coast Conference selection who averaged 17.5 points per game (fifth in the league) and 4.0 assists pg (ninth in the league) in 2017-18. Jadersten, a senior, appeared in 84 games his first three years and Vrankic was one of the more productive freshmen in the WCC during 2017-18. Vrankic was third on the team in both scoring (10.4 ppg) and rebounding (4.6 pg).

Sophomore guard Tahj Eaddy is eligible this season after sitting out 2017-18. He transferred from Southeast Missouri last summer.

There are eight additions to the 2018-19 squad, including five true freshmen in Guglielmo Caruso (Naples, Italy), Juan Ducasse (Montevideo, Uruguay), Keshawn Justice (Madison, Wisconsin), Zeke Richards (Oak Park, California) and Trey Wertz (Charlotte, North Carolina). Fallou Ndoye, DJ Mitchell and Josh Martin are transfers. Ndoye (CSU Bakersfield) and Martin (Cal Poly) are graduate transfers. Mitchell played the last two seasons at Wake Forest and will sit out 2018-19.

YEAR THREE UNDER SENDEK...
The Broncos are in their 112th year of existence, including third under Herb Sendek, who has been successful in each of his three previous head-coaching stops. With a resume that includes 18 postseason appearances and three conference coach of the year awards, Sendek, was one of the three youngest coaches with 400 or more career victories. He is in his 25th season as a collegiate head coach with stops at Arizona State, North Carolina State and Miami (Ohio).

QUICK HITS...
• Santa Clara and Jackson State are meeting for the first time. The Tigers are one of three Southwest Athletic Conference teams the Broncos will play in 2018-19. Santa Clara lost to Prairie View A&M in the season opener and faces Mississippi Valley State next month.
• KJ Feagin broke a bone in his left hand against UC Irvine (Nov. 15) and he is out of action indefinitely.
• Tahj Eaddy is the team's leading scorer (15.7 ppg) and has hit 11 of 23 from behind the 3-point line in the last three games. Josip Vrankic is second in scoring (11.5) while shooting 54 percent from the floor. Keshawn Justice is third in scoring (10.7 ppg) and Josh Martin is the leading rebounder at 7.5 per contest.
• Eaddy is the only player to reach double-figure scoring in all six games ... Josip Vrankic has connected on 27 of 45 field goals in the last three games.

ABOUT JACKSON STATE...
The Tigers, who play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, are led by head coach Wayne Brent. Junior guard Venji Wallis leads the team in scoring (11.6 ppg) and his 1.9 steals per contest are third in the league. Senior guard/forward Chris Howell is averaging 10.1 points, 8.1 rebounds (second in the SWAC) and 3.0 assists per game.

Anthony Passarelli (play-by-play) and John Stege (analyst) will call the action during the season on radio and through TheW.tv at home. All Broncos home games and West Coast Conference contests (not on an ESPN platform or BYUtv) will also be streamed through TheW.tv (local blackout restrictions apply for games broadcast over the air).
