SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After securing its first win of the season, Santa Clara men's basketball has a quick turnaround in facing Cal. Tipoff between the Broncos and the Bears is set for Monday at 6 p.m. in Haas Pavilion.

The Broncos (1-4), about to play their second game in three days, got their most complete performance of the season in Saturday's 71-63 win at San Jose State. Tahj Eaddy (23), Josip Vrankic (18) and Henrik Jadersten (17) combined for 58 points as Santa Clara shot a season-best 47 percent from the floor and nailed 11 from behind the 3-point line.

Following a pair of home losses, the Broncos saw improved play at last week's Vancouver Showcase, but still dropped decisions to Washington and Minnesota.

Cal (1-3) is coming off a pair of losses at the GotPrint.com Legends Classic at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. The Bears lost to St. John's and Temple.

This season, the Broncos feature a new-look roster.

Guard KJ Feagin, and forwards Henrik Jadersten and Josip Vrankic are the only returning rotational players. Feagin, a three-year starter, is a two-time All-West Coast Conference selection who averaged 17.5 points per game (fifth in the league) and 4.0 assists pg (ninth in the league) in 2017-18. Jadersten, a senior, appeared in 84 games his first three years and Vrankic was one of the more productive freshmen in the WCC during 2017-18. Vrankic was third on the team in both scoring (10.4 ppg) and rebounding (4.6 pg)..

Sophomore guard Tahj Eaddy is eligible this season after sitting out 2017-18. He transferred from Southeast Missouri last summer.

There are eight additions to the 2018-19 squad, including five true freshmen in Guglielmo Caruso (Naples, Italy), Juan Ducasse (Montevideo, Uruguay), Keshawn Justice (Madison, Wisconsin), Zeke Richards (Oak Park, California) and Trey Wertz (Charlotte, North Carolina). Fallou Ndoye, DJ Mitchell and Josh Martin are transfers. Ndoye (CSU Bakersfield) and Martin (Cal Poly) are graduate transfers with immediate eligibility. Mitchell played the last two seasons at Wake Forest and will sit out 2018-19.

YEAR THREE UNDER SENDEK
The Broncos are in their 112th year of existence, including third under Herb Sendek, who has been successful in each of his three previous head-coaching stops. With a resume that includes 18 postseason appearances and three conference coach of the year awards, Sendek, was one of the three youngest coaches with 400 or more career victories. He is in his 25th season as a collegiate head coach with stops at Arizona State, North Carolina State and Miami (Ohio).

QUICK HITS
• KJ Feagin injured his left hand against UC Irvine (Nov. 15). Further evaluation revealed a broken bone and he is out of action indefinitely.
• Tahj Eaddy is the team's leading scorer (16.2 ppg) and has hit 10 of 17 from behind the 3-point line in the last two games. Keshawn Justice is second in scoring (11.8 ppg) and Josip Vrankic is third (11.4) while shooting a team-best 55.8 percent from the floor. Josh Martin is the leading rebounder at 6.2 per contest.
• Eaddy is the only player to reach double-figure scoring in all five games ... Josip Vrankic has connected on 23 of 36 field goals in the last three games.
• Overall, the Broncos have struggled shooting from the field, but has connected on 45 percent in the last three games after hitting only 33 percent in the opening two. Conversely, after allowing a 47-percent shooting percentage in the first three games, foes are hitting 37 percent in the last two.
• Eight of the 10 Santa Clara players who saw action in the season opener against Prairie View A&M (Nov. 9) appeared for the first time as Broncos.

THE CAL SERIES...
The Bears lead the all-time series 44-28, but the teams are meeting for the first time in 12 years.

Anthony Passarelli (play-by-play) and John Stege (analyst) will call the action during the season on radio and through TheW.tv at home. All Broncos home games and West Coast Conference contests (not on an ESPN platform or BYUtv) will also be streamed through TheW.tv (local blackout restrictions apply for games broadcast over the air).
