COSTA MESA, Calif. - Santa Clara holds a six-shot lead after the first 36 holes played Monday in the rain-soaked, 26th annual Anteater Men's Golf Invitational at Mesa Verde Country Club.
The Broncos shot a two-round total of 578, followed by the Arizona "B" team at 584 and host UC Irvine at 586 in the eight-team field on the par-70 layout that measures 6,695 yards.
Cal Poly's Travis Bertoni was the lone golfer to break par for 36 holes as he leads at 1-under 139 (69-70). Stephen Clark of UMKC is second at 3-over 143 (73-70).
Santa Clara's Michael Nicoletti and Tim Lynch are tied for third place in the individual standings, each covering the first two round of the event with a four-over-par 144. Jong Yoon is two strokes behind his teammates in a tie for seventh place and Eric Lillibridge is tied for 12th at 147.
John Colyar is tied for 21st overall and his second-round 73 was four strokes better than his scored on the first 18 holes of the day.
Weather permitting, the final 18 holes are scheduled for Tuesday.
