SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara Men's Golf head coach Rob Miller this week announced that high school senior and Green Valley, Calif. native Jimmy Cacho signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos at the beginning of the fall quarter in September 2006.

Golfing for Justin-Siena High School head coach Mike Roark, Cacho has earned Marin County Athletic League Player of the Year honors the past two seasons, as well as Freshman of the Year honors three seasons ago.

Cacho captured the MCAL individual title as a sophomore in 2004 and finished second in 2003 and 2005. In addition, he placed second in the NCS Tournament of Champions last year after two fourth-place finishes in 2003 and 2004. For the past three seasons Cacho has also played in the Northern California High School Championships and in 2004 was named a High School All-American by the National High School Coaches Association, only one of 25 players to earn the honor.

This past August, Cacho finished third at the NCGA Junior Championship at Lake Merced. Off the course he carries a 3.3 grade-point average and is a CSF member as well.

"Jimmy Cacho has proven to be one of the top players in Northern California and we are pleased that he has elected to come to Santa Clara University next year," said Miller. "We expect Jimmy to assimilate quickly to college golf and contribute to the team immediately. He has a great swing and is highly skilled in all aspects of the game as well as being a great person."
