Santa Clara Moves Up the Standings in Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Santa Clara men's golf team showed its grit Wednesday amid another day of windy conditions at the Kaneohe Klipper GC, shooting 292 as a team to improve to fifth in the standings heading into tomorrow's final round.

Tuesday's round was Tim Lynch's turn to lead the way for the Broncos, shooting an even-par 72. John Colyar carded his second 73 of the tournament while Jong Yoon bounced back from an opening-round 85 to shoot 73 in the second round.

Michael Nicoletti turned in a 74 while Eric Lillibridge rounde dout the quintet with a 79.

New Mexico State remains in first in the team competition, shooting 570 as a team, four strokes ahead of second-place UNLV. On the individual side of things, the Rebels' C.J. Gatto heads into Wednesday's final round the leader with a two-round total of 138.

Colyar's pair of 73s leaves him at 146, tied for 17th in a pack that is eight strokes off the pace. Lynch and Nicoletti are right behind Colyar with scores of 147 and 148, respectively.

Tomorrow's final round will conclude the men's successful Fall season, one that already features two tournament victories and a runner-up finish.
