Travers Makes History by Winning SCGA Amateur Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Scott Travers broke Tiger Woods' all-time scoring record with a 16-under-par 268 en route to winning the 2010 Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) Amateur Championship at La Cumbre Country Club in Santa Barbara.

The Santa Clara University junior and Trubuco Canyon Calif. native became the first player since 1942 to win the event concurrently with the State Amateur. Travers won the 99th California State Amateur Championship earlier this summer.

The SCGA Amateur-California State Amateur combo win has only happened three times in the events' simultaneous 99-year history: Dr. Paul Hunter in 1921, George Von Elm in 1925 and Johnny Dawson in 1942.

Travers will compete in the 107th NCGA Amateur Match Play Championship at Spyglass Hill GC on August 9-13, 2010. No player has won all three events since Charles Seaver did it in 1933.
